Mercedes glk 2014

No one has offered diesel cars in the US longer than Mercedes. Their latest diesel, the 2014 GLK-Class, gets an updated exterior, interior, and a diesel engine that costs less than the premium V-6.The GLK consists of three models, a rear-wheel drive GLK350 and the all-wheel drive GLK350 and GLK250 4MATIC. The drivetrain consists of either a 302-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine or a 200-hp 2.1-liter 4-cylinder turbodiesel. Both engines are matched with a seven-speed automatic transmission. All versions of the GLK are equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, cruise control, 8-way power front seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Following last year's design update, the 2014 Mercedes GLK may look somewhat rugged, but it's actually a very comfortable crossover with pleasant driving manners. The first prototypes for the second-generation Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class have started testing, and we’ve already scooped some photos.

They are the hype in both Europe and the United States. Now, enter the 2014 Mercedes-Benz GLK 250 Bluetec. The newest variant of Mercedes-Benz’s popular compact SUV, the GLK class, this GLK 250 drops the the traditional 268-horsepower V6 in favor of a 2.2-liter turbo diesel, just one of the many new diesel offerings Mercedes has prepared for the American market. The styling won’t be boxy and angular like the GLK’s, but rather softer. It will be punctuated by a lot of flowing and twisting lines, not all of which make sense at first—or even second—glance. Inside, you can be sure the new model will sport the latest versions of COMAND and Mercedes’ various other safety and telematics technologies.Upgrades and changes continue inside where the formerly rather utilitarian interior becomes brighter, ruled by circular—and quiet— air vents at mid-chest hight.More air, quieter air, cool. Last year’s instruments are colorized and the steering wheel is completely changed gaining control over most functions of the in-dash display/navigation/audio system. Conveniently, the instrument cluster display located between speedometer and tachometer can provide a choice of advising you of FM station or CD track, navigation, or other choices.

The GLK's standard-equipment list leaves no question that it's a luxury vehicle. It includes 19-inch wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, power front seats, and Bluetooth connectivity. Satellite radio is available; so are a power liftgate; a navigation system powered by COMAND; and 20-inch wheels. New this year on all models is mbrace2, the Mercedes connectivity suite that puts mobile apps in touch with the vehicle.Overall, the GLK 250 Bluetec seems to have everything going for it: utility, economy, and best of all, classic Mercedes luxury. However, with tough competition from Audi’s Q5, BMW’s X3, and Land Rover’s Evoque, the GLK remains in a competitive market amongst younger buyers.

Timing isn't everything, but in the case of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA, it's one more big tactical advantage. The company's first compact four-door luxury sedan--its first front-drive car in America, ever--the grippy and gripping CLA goes on sale this fall at least a half-year.We can tell you're excited about the new 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class--once again, it's The Car Connection's most popular video of the week. And why not? With the CLA.While we disdain its pretentious "four-door coupe" mo niker, the Mercedes-Benz CLS speaks to us, and we're not alone. When it debuted in 2005, the CLS sparked a movement, spinning off rivals and copycats and inspiring a full generation of sedans that shortchange rear-seat headroom for the sake of a swoopy roofline. Now, Mercedes is arming for a revolution. Headed our way is a new family of the smallest Benz-badged cars the company has ever sold in the U.S., including a sub-GLK-class micro-ute and maybe even a mini-size convertible.

The CLA 250's drivetrain pairs a 2.0-liter turbo four with 208 horsepower to a seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission. It's a combination with 0-60 mph times of 6.7 seconds and a 149-mph top speed in its portfolio, underpinned with some grunty four-cylinder noises. The transmission needs quicker shift responses, though: even with paddle controls.Rounding out our top sedan videos this week, Honda gave the the Civic an emergency refresh for 2013 with upgraded materials, and refined details to better compete with the competition.it's traveling at more than 4 mph, and can calculate the amount of brake force needed to avoid an impact. Also standard are Attention Assist and its coffee-cup reminder to pull over and avoid drowsy driving, and a driver knee airbag. Safety options include adaptive cruise control; blind-spot monitors; lane-keeping assistance; and parking sensors with parking assist. Visibility isn't great to the rear--we hope the rearview camera gets liberated into an inexpensive, stand-alone option in the near future.

"Respectfully" is how you'd better treat the CLA45 AMG, a ferocious wielder of adult-sized power. Slated to arrive mere months after the civilian model, the AMG routes the byproduct of its 26-psi war cry to all four wheels.  With the Premium package--it bundles an iPod interface with satellite radio, surround sound, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a garage door opener--the CLA should retail for about $33,500. It will be impossible to option the CLA 250 past $40,000.The CLA45 AMG is configured much the same, save for its drivetrain. The base price of $48,375 leaves room for option packages that include Recaro performance seats.

The lines of the new S-Class imply power and dynamism, even when it’s parked. And the features of the new S-Class, such as a three-dimensional radiator grille, innovative headlights and bi-colour tail lights with cutting-edge LED technology, are consistent with a high-tech tour de force and help cement the S-Class’ position atop any list of the world's leading luxury sedans. Attractiveness, expressiveness and forcefulness from every angle. That’s the beauty of C-Class.

For four decades and five generations of the S-class, the car has traditionally been the company’s technology icebreaker, introducing now-fundamental systems such as stability control and ABS braking, adaptive cruise control and adaptive body-roll control. In that time, S-class product planning has also become increasingly a victim of its own rhetoric, with each generation obliged to blow buyers’ minds anew, sometimes with trivial, half-baked “technologies. For starters, the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E250 BlueTEC is new, featuring a smaller 2.1-liter four-cylinder diesel engine, one that replaces the V-6 diesel that Mercedes previously used. It's also the same engine powering the 2014 GLK250 BlueTEC, and offers a lot of low-end power, and greater fuel efficiency. If diesel doesn't catch your fancy, there are V-6 and V-8 gasoline engines in the E350 and E550, as well as the Mercedes-Benz E400 Hybrid, which pairs an electric motor and battery pack to the V-6 gasoline powertrain. And to please--or confuse--you further, there are sedan, wagon, coupe, and cabriolet (convertible) models to choose from. Once you've got those preferences figured out, there a couple things yet to still consider.

Over the years, Benz and its closest competitors have reduced power, handling, and comfort to commodities. Supplying them in overabundance is the table ante now, so the strategy with the new S, code-named W222 and initially available in the U.S. as the S550 and S550 4MATIC, has been to think of what else the rich desire even before the rich think of it themselves. One of the most prominent features in this regard is the wood trim, which spans the entire interior of the S-Class. In conjunction with the modernistic design, it conveys a feeling of expanse and peace. Moreover, high-quality controls forged from aluminum and honed with a metallic or pearl-effect finish are unmistakable signs of Mercedes-Benz quality.

The S-class cabin deploys more than 300 LEDs—according to Mercedes-Benz, this is the first passenger car since Edison that uses no incandescent light bulbs—allowing the designers to paint the cabin with light, gathering it in gentle pools for illumination. Drivers can choose one of seven ambient lighting schemes. I like tangerine, myself. The new S-Class also sets the standard in high-tech areas such as entertainment and multimedia. State of the art sound and entertainment systems and navigation features with a high-resolution display provide an emotional experience and unbridled driving pleasure. The 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is priced competitively, with the entry-level 2014 E250 BlueTEC starting at $52,325 after delivery, and the 2014 E350 gasoline-powered variant coming just above that $52,825. The top of the line 2014 E63 AMG S-Model 4Matic pierces the six-figure stratosphere, starting at $103,295 after delivery. The Audi A6 and BMW 5 Series offer valiant competition, while the 2014 Lexus GS 350 has been significantly updated.
