2014 Audi RS 7 Price Starts at $105,795 most powerful RS model ever

goes on sale this fall, 2014 Audi RS 7 Price starts at $105,795. the most powerful RS model ever offered in U.S with with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter TFSI V8 engine that produces 560 horsepower.  this price including an $895 destination charge. Buyers of the compelling Audi RS 7 may be deterred by the hefty price tag. The Audi RS 7 beefs up the A7 model line. In comparison, the base 2014 Audi A7 3.0 TFSI starts at $65,395, including an $895 destination charge.

The Audi RS 7 is equipped with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter TFSI V8 engine that produces 560 horsepower. The engine is linked to an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. The car sprints from zero to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and has a top track speed of 174 mph. The RS 7 presses hard on its eight cylinders and twin turbochargers to generate a gulpworthy 560 horsepower (probably 553-ish when it’s SAE-rated in the U.S.) from that biturbo 4.0-liter V-8. It’s effective and smooth and even genteel when it wants to be–just don’t provoke it unless you really mean to.

Instead of Audi’s usual S tronic dual-clutch gearbox–not strong enough for all the RS 7′s 516 pound-feet of torque–there’s a ZF eight-speed, paddle-shifted automatic with a sport rear differential and quattro all-wheel drive. Set up for a nominal 40:60 torque split, it’s variable to 70 percent of torque to the front or 85 percent to the rear. There’s also launch control–which makes it the only vehicle other than the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT to have a torque-converter automatic, an active rear differential, and launch control. In case you asked.

It’s the perfect gearbox for the job, unrushed and invisible except when it’s not. When you tromp on the RS 7′s throttle, the transmission rifles through three or four gears, locks in and drops the RS 7 into some J.J. Abrams-inspired warp mode that teleports you from one spot to a few hundred yards down the ‘bahn. The passing power on tap can be disturbingly strong–if you’re a dumbass Peugeot hatchback without the common sense or dignity to stay out of the left lane.

The 2014 Audi RS7 is fairly easy to distinguish from its lesser A7 and S7 brethren purely because of the characteristics we’ve come to associate with the RS line: gaping air intakes, a honeycomb grille, aluminum-look mirror caps, and the trademark twin oval exhaust outlets. Further setting the RS7 apart from its plebeian siblings are the standard 20-inch aluminum wheels, and the optional 21s. Beyond the standard trim, matte-aluminum and carbon-fiber appearance packages are available. Both packages include large Quattro lettering located low down on the grille, within a sub-grille that features even-finer honeycomb detailing. The carbon-fiber package also adds a modified front splitter and rear diffuser, both of which are done in the light-and-expensive fibers.

The cabin of the RS 7 gets RS-specific carbon-fiber inlays, black-faced instrument gauges and aluminum pedals. The Audi MMI touch with handwriting recognition is standards, along with Audi side assist, which monitors the blind-spot areas.

The RS7 is ultra-fast and capable, and its exhaust system says—okay, shouts—as much when its active valves open under heavy. But even a vehicle as menacing-sounding as the RS7 won’t provide tree huggers with reason to scoff. Thanks to a cylinder-deactivation system that transforms the V-8 into a four-banger when cruising along, and a stop-start system, fuel economy is rated at 21 mpg in the optimistic European combined cycle. (For reference, the most powerful application of this mill in the U.S. at present is the 520-hp S8, which is rated at 15 mpg in the city and 26 on the highway.)
